TIPS FOR THE NEW RECRUIT

A brief message from 5th Ranger Battalion XO:

I began re-enacting with the 5th Ranger Battalion, a small unit in the Fort Knox KY area; in the spring of 2001. Since then it has been my sole and primary impression. Our group has grown, re-organized; and has become a national organization with not-for-profit status. We have a come a long way. Working my way thru the ranks of the 5th; I have taken on an ever-growing role of responsibility in our group. In doing so one of my biggest interests has been to have fun and represent the fighting men of the Army Rangers as accurately as possible. I feel that above all else; we should strive for a common goal: To honorably and authentically represent the combatants of WWII; specifically those of the 5th Rangers. In doing so; we should operate safely and as effectively as possible in the field; adhering to orders and the advice of your other officers and NCO's. Respect the opinions of others and treat one another with respect. Professionalism, Unity, Leadership and Learning are some of the principles I hope you share with us. I hope that all of our members are able to walk away from events knowing they preformed effectively and safely. If there is one statement I can make about this hobby, it is that YOU decide your own level of participation in the group and YOU decide how to conduct yourself as member. Members will get all the information they want from our officers, the web site, via e-mails & fellow members and if you come into events with a good attitude; you WILL leave with a positive experience under your belt. Leave the politics on the landing craft! Remember, this is a hobby made up of volunteers; we should all enjoy what we are doing and have a great time doing it. Rangers, Lead the way!
