The
5th Ranger Battalion (RS) was a dream of mine and a few other
members. We started it back in 2000 as a small group of members
who were all active duty military as the 5th Rangers Infantry
Battalion B Coy. We got in contact with Andrew Burgess 1SG for
Easy Company his
unit was doing a 5th RGR impression already and I did not want
to step on any toes getting us organized. Needless to say E
coy provided allot of information to myself for the impression.
We are still in contact with E coy and are good friends with
several members. The idea of the Society was so any member of
the unit can travel to events anywhere in the US and still have
people they know at the event. In 2003 we got our 501c status.
So we have become a solid society now
The purpose is to develop a strong impression based on historical
accuracy from information gathered from the veterans of the
5th Rangers in WW2. We have done this and are continuing to
do so everyday, having contact with several of the 5th Rangers
from WW2 as well family members. We were the first ever-reenacting
society to be invited to the WW2 Ranger Reunion in 2004.
Attending that event was a true honor and meeting with the veterans
was indiscernible. They provided us with correct information
from everything like uniforms to where they would prefer to
put a pouch on their equipment. All this has given us the insight
for correct uniforms and
equipment to make us Very Authentic in our impressions.
The goal of the 5th Rangers is to be one of the most authentic
units in appearance as well tactically. We do training events
where we can live fire our weapons and work on movement to contact.
You do not have to be in the military to join this unit you
just have to have the desire to make the best impression you
can. The unit is very fun and we all enjoy attending events.
We are working on setting up more then just one battalion event
so we can all get together more often. At the current
time we have units in IL, NY, and KY with members also living
in IN, OH, and TN. Keep up the good work and check
us out if you are interested in joining a reenacting unit. “LEAD
THE WAY, RANGERS”
