INFORMATION ON CHARLIE COMPANY
Charlie Company (heavy weapons) is our newest company in the 5th Rangers. This company is open to 12-17 year olds. This company will teach and educate the future generations of reenacting, get them prepared to reenact with the actual companies of the 5th RIB. With this company, the other companies of the 5th RIB will instruct the younger group in proper tactics and weapons safety, the history of the 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion including other Ranger Infantry Battalions and companies in WW2. They will also be educated in the leaders, major battles, weapons and equipment of the allied and axis forces used in WWII. Medics, radioman, clerks, are the first positions in the 5th RIB these young people will hold when joining the rest of the units. During this time in Charlie Company the younger troops will be taught assault boat team drills, infantry tactics, mine clearing, hand to hand combat, and medical treatment for wounded.
At the age of 16, Charlie company members can join the other companies in the 5th Battalion. Under the guidelines and T O & E of the 5th RIB they cannot carry a weapon until they reach the age of 18. They can use their prior training in medical, radio, and/or clerk to help understand the position which they hold.
Weapons safety is the most important education that we will teach these young recruits, starting with the proper use of weapons, muzzle control, and moving onto the break down, cleaning and reassembling of the weapon.
Charlie Company may attend events that the 5th RIB is attending as long as there are no age violations of event guidelines.
A waiver must be signed by the parent or guardian of the new recruit.
